Can anyone explain why vision is critical apart from seeing objects and colors?

At the beginning of this content I pit my iPad an arms length away and the subtitles were very blurry, and I had to squint to be able to read it. By the end of the content, my iPad was still an arm's length away, but I could read the subtitles easily and it was significantly less blurry, although there was still a bit of blur. Progress already. Thank you, Professor!

Thank you for the content, Dr.Huberman! Vision is such an important part of our life! I think we all should put our effort into making better vision for everyone- that would mean also changing our habits, our way of life, our work culture.

I had a head injury that resulted in seeing two of everything if its not right in front of me.
Went on walks and would focus eyes on things of all different distances, and it fixed it within 2 days of this.

Dr Huberman is a real blessing. Praise God for people like him who share such information with us all. I can’t imagine how anyone is a “scientist” and fails to see intelligent design in this magnificent being we barely know.
There’s an interview “improved vision with Dr Applebaum” and it is amazing how the eyes work but this is even more descriptive of the process. Thank you to Huberman for this.

Focusing on something very far away for a short period and then resting the eyes by looking at something with no focus at all is very good

Thanks for the content, I had Lasik surgery many years ago and my doctor told me if I wanted to stave off "old man eyes" then I should drink a "good swallow" of Flaxseed oil every night before bed. I did it for a long time and after a while I stopped and sure enough I could feel my eyes straining more and having to need reader glasses more often. I started drinking flaxseed oil again and sure enough my eyes slowly stopped straining and occasionally I do not need readers. I try my best to keep it up, but have always wondered what the mechanism is? The best answer I can find is that while Flaxseed oil is a "seed oil" it has a beneficial combination of Omega-6 and Omega-3 fatty acids similar to fish oils. I have never been able to find any information on Flaxseed oil benefits for eyesight.

I’ll stick with beef fat, butter, and the occasional sardine.

fishoil is fine as well - the norwegians "give it away" in bottles as well.

You'll get the same results by just taking fish oil pills. Better results, really.

Wow. You are absolutely one of our times greatest scientic and human being. I'm grateful I haven't done anything really bad for my eyes but didn't care for them either, this content blew my mind about eyes and I will build my routines again around these protocols as I already have a pretty healthy lifestyle, which actually is another thank to you. Thank you for saving my vision and improving my well-being by every episode, you are amazing!
