Thank you for your simple understandable content! I'm navigating cancer through diet and appreciate the correlation with studies in healthy foods. I do keep a daily food diary and find I don't get enough protein because I'm plant based, but reading this I believe I need to add some animal protein.

I don’t know why he thinks including your sleep time as part of your fasting is something new and revolutionary. Anybody who’s heard of intermittent fasting knows that when you are sleeping you are fasting. Just add noneating hours before and/or after sleeping and voila - you’re intermittent fasting.

I tried swallowing straight ACV and it caused damage to my esophagus! Perhaps some people can do that, but it caused a couple of weeks of being unwell for me. I tried diluting it with water, which worked better but was painful in my gut. I can drink it, 2 tablespoons to 12 oz of water, and NOT on an empty stomach, without pain. It does seem to help.

I wonder if a lengthy fermented kombucha would also be considered vinegar with the same results?  It certainly tastes vinegary.

I tried to take apple cider vinegar but have to be VERY careful because ACV is a blood thinner.  I cannot take 3 TBSP per day.  I can't even take 1 TBSP per day!  (Maybe 1 tsp would be ok.)

What you eat it matters a lot, but if you want to lose weight if you don't make some calories restriction it doesn't work, no matter what time of dieting or life style you adopt, it will not work if losing weight is your goal. I have tried it all, i really means all, only calorie restriction works

I am so exhausted listening to advocates telling me that based on “x” study …. I must eat only vegetables, only meat, only a mix, follow the blue zones, eat omnivore, eat Mediterranean…. Stop thinking you are all experts on what is best for everyone!

If you still feel hungry after eating a meal, think of the hunger as a good pang; just like the muscle burn you feel after doing a number of sets and reps to the point of fatigue--it's a good soreness. Also, don't eat like you want to remain overweight; eat like you're already a thinner-fitter person. Your mantra...hunger pangs and exercise soreness are good things and will only make me better.

My friend died because she was drinking vinegar to lose weight. She has become very skinny but also very sick. Her liver stopped working. It was not reversible. The liver does not like vinegar. Also, a lot of people have IBS to a greater or lesser degree. A lot of people, because of everyday stress, are prone to ulcers in the stomach or duodenum, or gut inflammation, so they cannot drink vinegar. It causes pain and irritation. My friend was 21 years old.

Yes, apple cider vinegar - with the mother - taken with water will work wonders for losing belly fat. Also, intermittent fasting overnight, like Dr. Li says, for 16 hours will work wonders, too. No food/drink, including no water unless necessary, and the fat drops like crazy. I weighed myself a few days after fasting on alternative days and it was amazing seeing the pounds drop off. On days I didn’t fast, I ate lightly as usual. Just a couple of salads - egg salad around lunch and a salad with salmon, chicken breast or tuna, for dinner. Sometimes I have a banana and berry smoothie, green tea latte or golden milk latte for brunch. I walk as much as possible - a few times a week and value good sleep - 6-7 hours - and know that laughter is great medicine. I am 77, female, take no meds and weigh 150.

A lot of people eat too fast & go past the point of being full. As Babe ("slim") Paley used to say - just put the fork down....
