Has anyone attempted to render chicken fat, also called schmaltz, as a form of cooking oil? How is it done?

I used to get mine from a supermarket which sold Rotisserie chickens. They throw all the fat out every day.

I thought schmalz was made with bacon. They still eat rendered and flavored bacon grease in Germany
