How exactly does our behavior and environment modify our DNA, and how does that affect our body and health?

Thank you for another fascinating episode! I’d argue that mother nature is not punishing but in fact protecting the species by introducing disease when populations mate with others that are too close in genetic makeup. By reliably killing offspring of incest you ensure a gene pool varied enough to survive potential extinction generations down the line. Thanks again! Really admire your dedication to informing the public!

Can you please talk about the bizarre treatments to change eye color? Are they safe?

DO NOT USE. Serious concerns about possible vision disruption.

¡Hola Profe! Such fascinating conversation. I was wondering is there such a thing as "skip of one generation" if we are talking about genetics. For example, my dad had a dimple on his chin, I didn't inherit it, but both of my kids have it. Thank You for all Your hard work and care for all of us.

Fascinating episode. Excited to have a conversation w my daughter about this (her undergrad in biological anthropology and forensics). Can't help but wonder if the mechanism that changes our RBC at high altitudes are the same as those underwater and is the affect on the spleen the same? Would love to read research comparing the two.

I can't stand the ads - i've not tuned in for the past 5 weeks because i listen to podcasts while driving. The ads come up abruptly and I have to suffer through them. Please change this model.

Premium = no ads
by (100 points)
I have premium and I haven't been listening for a long time either because of the "sponsor" promotion that seems to go on and on.
If I'm able, I skip them. But more and more I just don't listen to the extended contents with sponsors.
He has shorter podcasts that are boiled down versions of the long ones without sponsors. While they don't have as much information, I listen to them because they don't have "sponsors".

Not sure if you’re aware how this content is 100% free- all you have to do is “suffer” through the ads.
The other coaches and helpful content asks you to join their membership for further coaching and helpful information..not coming for you but just trying to help you to understand a bit better how much of a gift this content is.

I apologize for the irrellevance of my question, but what it your take on grape therapy? I've heard great things from people who have tried it, yet wikipedia does not seem to agree... Thank you for your valuable contribution to science. Your podcast has really upgraded my everyday-life quality.

You would be smart to do the opposite of what wiki says.

Excellent episode. Dr. Ilardo’s explanation of how behaviors like breath-hold training can affect organ function and performance was really insightful. The discussion on gene expression, immune responses, and mate selection through scent added a fascinating layer to the nature vs. nurture conversation. Thought-provoking and informative throughout.

I've spent years trying to manifest my dream life but it never seemed to work for me. I tried so many methods but still felt stuck. My friend and I heard about a book called Manifest and Receive by Eva Hartley, and I was hesitant at first. But after reading just a few chapters, I realized how much I was missing. Her approach is so different from anything I’ve ever tried. It’s not just about thinking positive, it’s about aligning with real-world actions that bring your desires into reality. Since then, I’ve manifested opportunities I never imagined possible, and my mindset has shifted completely❤️

People who have had their spleen removed are immune-compromised. Although we can live w/out our spleen, it is suboptimal.

It was amazing that this content came out as I was reading something on genealogy!
