I was ready to go to bed and thought this would be boring enough to sleep through... now I'm awake still rewinding and listening. So educational and enticing!

He helps me sleep. I get to sleep within 10 minutes.
ago by (100 points)
for you man! (nobody gives a fuck)
ago by (100 points)
I know, right!?! I listened once and even became so engaged in his story telling I cried for those he spoke of. I had to listen to a different recording to sleep.
ago by (100 points)
Haha, the best kind of "boring" that keeps you hooked! Glad you're enjoying it!

I’m proud to say that I’ve never remembered the end of any episode as I am fast asleep well before it’s over. Thank you for bringing my mind peace in these chaotic times. I can fall asleep knowing that at least I’m not a peasant in Ancient Greece. Could be worse. ‍♀️

If you ever get a moment, read the middle or a little more. It's fantastic. Goes on to talk about Boudicca the Queen of some tribe that conquered much of Rome. Then on to Sapho (Saffo?) the poet from an island where noble women went to learn poetry, music, etc. Extremely interesting. Amazing, really.

Late night in UK. My father is having his first night in a dementia home and I'm struggling not to worry. He was distressed when I left him. I'm comforted reading these.

California. Starting at midnight I usually wake up every hour or two. (So boring - laying there in the dark, hoping to go back to sleep ) Since I found you, I'm kind of happy when I wake up! I put it under my pillow and drift in and out. Always so interesting so I usually back it up to hear the parts I slept through while I drink my coffee in the morning. I love your voice, so soothing and such interesting information. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

The Netherlands, and your content has helped me sleep. Being in chronic nerve pain for 12 years, I am a chronic insomniac. No matter the meds. You don't know how much you have helped me. So I wanted to say thank you! Keep them coming. (The content regarding sleeping in those conditions also make me feel very grateful) ❤
ago by (100 points)
could weed help you out with that? possibly kratom? I've heard awesome stuff on kratom for people suffering from chronic pain

Going to bed in Dubai. I've always liked to hear about how common people lived in the past rather than hearing about game of thrones in every part of the world. I believe that was history school lessons are missing. Thank you for your work

I’ve started making your content, my nightly ritual, four days ago. So far it’s helped me go right to sleep. I’m doing it from Bermuda.
ago by (100 points)
I’ve also been thinking about maybe just doing in in Bermuda.  Don’t they have pink beaches there?

I'm supposed to give a eulogy at my grandfather's funeral in the morning and I haven't written a word — just reading here, hoping the right words come.
ago by (100 points)
Sorry for your loss. I hope you find the words tomorrow. I hope you find comfort in remembering your grandfather and the life he led, with those who love and care for him, and who he loved and cared for.
ago by (100 points)
How’d that eulogy go. did you disappoint your entire family?
ago by (100 points)
He always was nice to you and you treat his eulogy as a homework, that you'll botch before showing up. I'm sad for your grandfather
ago by (100 points)
I hope you thought of a few good memories that were meaningful. Truth is, your grandfather isn’t there. I’m sure you did fine. My grandpa died around the same time and I didn’t even go to the funeral. He gave me permission not to.
ago by (100 points)
please ignore these mean comments; grief is weird and eerie for everyone. I’m sure you did your best- and even if you did not manage to get any word out, it is okay. Don’t treat a funeral like a project presentation.
ago by (100 points)
i hope the best for you. may your grandfather rest in peace

I'm awake all night again as I fell out of work due to my poor mental health. We have a mortgage to pay and I have anxiety. I've been doing uber Eats driving but the money is not reliable and not nearly enough. I'm looking for work with no time to recuperate and just exist. Life is hard, your content help a little thanks.
ago by (100 points)
Sending you strength. You're not alone—and the fact that you're still pushing forward says so much about your resilience. I'm really glad the content helps, even just a little.

Hang in there. Take joy when you can. Avoid drugs. I don't know what country you're in. I hope you have options for support. Ignore people who ignore your mental health. They have a shock coming, lack emotional intelligence or are in denial. I've met many who ate those words: "just get over it". Statistically they are less likely to survive a mental health crisis, are more prone to random acts of violence against themselves or others and have trouble staying in stable relationships. Pity them. Pity the people around them. Hope things get better for you. Farewell.

I'm really glad these contents bring you even a little peace. If you could design your perfect, dream job—no limits—what would it be?

In 200 years, someone may read aloud about how difficult life was in our current time.
ago by (100 points)
"You wake up in the 21st century.  You tell your android to fetch your slippers, but only there is no android to fetch your slippers.  You keep them by your bed.  Which is only modest memory foam, so it's possible your back aches slightly.  You get up and have to walk to the bathroom.  You haven't set the thermostat yet.  because spoiler alert, you have to go to the wall to change it, or if you're lucky change it from your phone.  Voice command?  It existed, but Probably not for you  Now that it's hot in your house, and you wait for it to cool off.  You relieve yourself, but not in time for your teenage daughter to tell you to hurry, because your whole family only has 1 toilet.  You can forget about brushing your teeth before everyone uses the toilet and fills the room with a human aroma.  Room freshener exists but it isn't instant.  Better hurry.  You have to take your children to school before going to work, and if you're late.  You could get a written reprimand.  You go to your garage, and in front of you is a combustion engine driving machine.  Yes, you will have to drive it yourself.  On the ground, no flying cars.  Oh, did I forget to mention.  You're on Earth, not Mars.  So, the heat is generally unbearable.  Until it becomes winter.  Then, good luck ever being comfortable.  The smog, and the pollution fill the air.  You cough.  Breakfast you ask?  You do not have time.  You have to buy it on the go from a local coffee shop."

In 200 years people lives will be as difficult as Ancient Greece I suspect.
ago by (100 points)
But they don’t actually need to consume information. They just have it. Then why would they read then. Never mind, don’t need to overthink what happens after we all go extinct.
ago by (100 points)
More likely they will be dreaming of what we take for granted before the collapse.
