Who can explain why sequels are incredibly essential in video games as well as most remarkable?

I've seen the same chicken jockey ad 8000 times in this playist
ago by (100 points)
I hate that I saw this comment the moment I got that ad.
ago by (100 points)
I thought I was the only one. I’m losing my mind seeing chicken jockey so much
ago by (100 points)
FUCKIN JESUS WHY
ago by (100 points)
Makes me never want to purchase a Microsoft product ever again.
ago by (100 points)

Looks fantastic, but charging $80 for a game who's entire story and lore is lampooning capitalism. Well, the irony isnt lost on me.

Cheapskate

Liked the first one, but like that one I will wait for a sale
ago by (100 points)
As someone who paid $70 for N64 games back in the late '90s, I kindly say: stfu entitled kiddos
ago by (100 points)
the game is on game pass. you clown. they can charge how much they want if its on game pass. its not like nintendo games, sony games
ago by (100 points)
There doing that because of microsoft. It has nothing to do with game development.

The first game was alright, enjoyable for a little bit but obviously had a really small budget. If Obsidian isn't bullshitting us about the extra depth and rpg stuff put into this, I'm excited.

.avowed was way better
ago by (100 points)
.Avowed was excellent — maybe try things for yourself rather than being an influencer drone
ago by (100 points)
lol tell that to the failed player numbers and loss in revenue, keep coping
ago by (100 points)
you have to be coping or you are a bot
ago by (100 points)
. cry more
ago by (100 points)
how am i crying? Avowed failed
ago by (100 points)
.Don't waste your time. These are the type of drones that would call Veilguard a "return to form." Avowed was extremely mediocre, a perfect sequel to the extremely mediocre Outer World. Avowed failed hard in the market so whatever they say is not applicable in the real world.
ago by (100 points)
.I read Obsidian considered avowed a commercial success. Not every game is projected to be the next big thing, sometimes they do enough.

A dystopian corporate reality. Boy I wonder how that is like...
ago by (100 points)
I’m not sure how you interpreted what you did from their message but clearly they’re making a sarcastic allusion to the real world, not criticizing the game’s themes
ago by (100 points)
When Uber "invented" buses recently, yeah that was a real Outer Worlds moment.
ago by (100 points)
that's even more stupid because we clearly do not live in a dystopian corporate world.

Microsoft made over $245 billion in 2024 they don't need you to defend their ridiculous price increases.

The difference between this and MKW is that Mario kart will still be $80 in 3 years and this will be $20
ago by (100 points)
this one will be 20 or less within less than year

ago by (39.0k points)
The reason why it’s $80 is because XBOX wants you to pay forever for their Game Pass Subscription which will become more attractive as games kept being sold at such a price!
ago by (100 points)
Actually gamepass is not profitable for MS. They just want to lure players in for the ecosystem but it has been out for a few years now and Sony is still going pretty strong. All games sell much more on PS5 because MS game pass eat their sales on PC and Xbox.
ago by (100 points)
dont think its obvious theres been a lot of talk lately about raising game prices because of the costs to make them.
ago by (100 points)
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA LAUGHING FACE EMOJIS VERY MUCH FUNNY MAKE BIG LAUGH JUICY CHUCKLE CHUCKLE
ago by (100 points)
so people should pirate it or completely ignore it to show microsoft/obsidian how unacceptable that is

3rd person and science armors are awesome additions

The 3rd person is the upgrade they needed and they did it.

The entire flaw bit with Ben Schwartz was so good. I love that they got him for this.
ago by (100 points)
came to the comments for this. I thought for sure he was Jean-Ralphio, but got confused for a second.

ago by (100 points)

ago by (100 points)
I'm just happy they added it
ago by (100 points)
Weird how people need to see the back of their character

I will very stupidly play an all-in science build as my 1st playthrough.
I'm sold, btw, this game looks like the kind of fun that I like.

Thanks for the coverage on TOW2

This is EXACTLY what I wanted fallout 4, AND starfield to be. This is my game of the year already and it's crazy how I played clair obscur....
ago by (100 points)
I'm glad Starfield and F4 isn't like this cringeworthy trash..
ago by (100 points)
you're a tasteless AAA enjoyer who needs help

We get it man, you're a joyless freak.

The variety of weapon design is surprising for an fps rpg!

Hope they also have livable and detailed cities too. It was the main letdown of starfield.
ago by (100 points)
Starfield wasn't a bad game.
ago by (100 points)
1) Starfield was great

2) Obsidian didn’t develop Starfield
ago by (100 points)
I just don't know if detailed livable cities is a realistic expectation of a present day game

Guys, this game never criticised capitalism. They took a piss at it but that's it. It's made by a company owned by a big corpo that has a near monopoly in basic software and that uses money to influence politics. It literally cannot criticise capitalism or corpocracy - that's the joke. So stop with your 'you can't criticise capitalism and charge $80'. You are literally the main character in the game, completely oblivious to their world lmao
ago by (100 points)
Who are you lecturing to?
ago by (100 points)

80$ is absolutely nuts.
ago by (100 points)
It's funny how PS5 games were $70. Then Elden Ring came out a few years later and charged $60 when they could've easily charged $70. I didn't hear anyone complaining about games still being $70. But now everyone is losing their mind over $80. If y'all broke just say so.
ago by (100 points)
gamepass not only in xbox though
ago by (100 points)
youre missing the point. If they get away with 80 dollars they'll go to 90. Then 100. You get the point.
ago by (100 points)
Cheapskate
ago by (100 points)
Just like when they went from $50 to $60 from PS2 to PS3? They were going too go to $70 for PS4 but everyone complained. So they waited until the PS5 for $70. $80 is here making up for the PS4. $90 will be PS6. $100 will be PS7. It's how life goes. More expensive technology, more expensive games.

It's amazing how they had everything going for them. They practically already had my money... then they showed the $80 price tag. Im not hurting for money but im not paying for that.
ago by (100 points)
40+ y/olds like myself remember paying $70+ for N64 games back in the late 90s…getting way less game for the money.

You don’t know how good you have it today. Games cost tens of millions to develop now, not to mention game prices have not kept pace with inflation. Entitlement, I swear…
ago by (100 points)
it's a deal breaker because it doesn't need to be that high. I'd rather not support an obviously greedy business practice.
ago by (100 points)
bro you aint fooling nobody, stop sucking on obsidian's banana and think for a sec
ago by (100 points)
Is it entitled to want a hobby to be affordable to everyone? Last time I checked the game studios releasing the best games today have sold their product at $40-$60 with Elden Ring, BG3, Epedeition 33, and Remnant 2 to name some off the top of my head.
ago by (100 points)
with your wallet. The price will drop if people don't pay. Otherwise, however unfortunate it may be, it'll take time for the prices to drop. Just get it on game pass or when it goes on sale.

Expanding on what makes obsidian games great. Honestly, I’m pumped for this in October and may take some PTO
