I can't wait to listen to this podcast. I was misdiagnosed by a psychiatrist and at the end of the day is all menopause related. I think it's hard for these professionals to diagnose!!! I hope they get better ways of measuring mental illness ❤ soon thank you dear Andrew

Yep- hormones are SO related to the mind/ hence the saying someone is “hormonal” is equated to “mental.” Joking. but so much of “bipolar” is relevant to hormonal changes- ADHD meds work differently during different times in your cycle- estrogen plays a huge role in brain functioning- causing mental fog etc when low, there is so much- not to mention thyroid.

I have ADHD since I was a kid. Now I'm 58 almost, and I swear, my brain stills like when I was a kid. Hyper. But sometimes, it hits me so bad I get overwhelmed, and I can't think or function. I don't take meds. I learned to control it with supplements and exercises. Eating habits. I can mentally multi task and listen to loud music while studying or at work. I'm even learning a new language. I am a data analyst/ inspector.

It's a wonderful conversation, regarding high functional ADHD, from my practical experience..outward they look bright but inside it will be a storm, I think it differs from person to person..for a border line high functioning ADHD they just need, "positive words", "validating words"..any negative words will break them emotionally

"...they can be addictive." No, this is not true they are actually anti-addictive. In fact there are many studies that show psychedelics are among the least addictive substances known. No withdrawal, no compulsive use-cycle, no dopamine hijacking, and they actually produce tolerance fast so frequent use ends up being self-limiting. Also, saying that psychedelics "alter reality" is a bit misleading too, it reduces the function of the default mode network (DMN), and while this treads into philosophy, one must question what is meant by "reality."

I consider myself a little of all things but diagnosed bipolar. I can relate at times to autism spectrum, and something you said about a friend who may not get as triggered by a partner as someone not on the spectrum, like them. I keep my presence in line more since at work as a server with the spectrum and don't get triggered hardly ever by anyone. It's amazing combined with the intuitive nature I'm tapping into that shows me there's a third party presence adding to our cbt. I see some coworkers struggle with ANTS and am keeping positive we can bridge science with woo woo.

Would you consider discussing the therapeutic applications of PEMF and infrared technologies (e.g., iMRS systems) as well as methylene blue combined with photobiomodulation, particularly in relation to mental health, cognitive function, and systemic wellness?

Andrew, how wonderful to have a few GEMS of wisdom by Dr. Deisseroth. The future of Bloodwork perhaps recognizing some of these Mental Health symptoms is so refreshing to hear. Will there ever be any new medical tools to predict symptoms of potential suicidal tendencies behavior? Will you have an episode discussing the benefits of IBOGAINE; these IBOGAINE Treatments seem to be a definite LIFE SAVOR for so many suffering w/ severe symptoms.
