Dr. Andrew Huberman’s discussion in AMA #19 provides a comprehensive comparison of whey protein, collagen protein, and bone broth, emphasizing their distinct roles in health. Whey protein excels for muscle protein synthesis due to its high leucine content and bioavailability, making it ideal for muscle growth and recovery. In contrast, collagen protein and bone broth support skin health, with evidence suggesting improvements in skin elasticity at 15 grams daily. However, whey protein may exacerbate acne in some individuals via the mTOR pathway, necessitating self-experimentation. Huberman’s recommendation of 1 gram of quality protein per pound of body weight, primarily from whole foods, offers a practical framework for balancing these sources. This analysis empowers individuals to tailor their protein intake to specific health goals, highlighting the importance of informed dietary choices grounded in science.

Shouldn't collagen be hydrolyzed collagen peptides?

I have a poor liver enzyme reaction to whey protein (NAFLD).
I can handle collagen well.
Would it be reasonable to supplement collagen with tyrosine, tryptophan and (just learned) leucine to "match" the value/potential of whey?

Hey, guys! I experienced acne after ingesting whey protein. Could you please tell me if isolate of whey protein creates the sane things?

An allergic response, nothing major, consider experiencing with hydrolyzed protein, if you still have the same issue, the other alternatives are beef or egg protein powders

Why does whey protein break me out significantly with cystic acne when I drink whey protein?

Check if there are other ingredients like lecithin or magnesium sterates or others and avoid those additives. But I'm just guessing as I break out on those additives in things like chocolate.

Isn't collagen protein lacking an amino acid - therefore making not countable toward protein intake? I thought collagen was an 'incomplete protein'.
