This talk matters to me bc having SLE Lupus, hair thinning is an issue. It’s good to know that we have stem cells that can create a new follicle where the original one stopped working.

Dr discusses here, some foods to activate stem cells for possibly new hair growth:
1. Water, tea, & coffee (without dairy)
2. Tomatoes, lightly cooked with:
3. Extra virgin olive oil
3. Sulforaphanes (raw to lightly cooked): broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower etc.
4. Beta D Glucan foods: Mushrooms, oats, barley, etc.: these contain beta d glucan which may help hair growth.
5. Ursolic Acid Foods: boosts stem cells which may grow new hair & skin (unless it’s scarred): Apples especially the skin, for example.

The Eat Right books are amazing.  Thank you Dr Li for introducing me to a whole new concept.. I’d heard food is medicine, but not being a medieval witch I didn’t know which foods worked for what.  Thank you for listing all the ways food can help my body.

I like that Dr. Li does not use scare tactics. And he doesn't talk to you like you are a child or an idiot. He is down to earth and doesnt come across superior. He eats the same kinds of foods we can eat.. mustard greens, bok choy, tomatoes, etc. not ribeye every night etc.

I brew green tea for ice tea. Same benefits hot or cold I hope!??
by (100 points)
Yes, same. However, Doc says (& online info says) that the temperature of the brewing water matters to preserve the effectiveness of the polyphenols - online you can find that for every type of tea - but generally Green Tea should be brewed at 175 to 180 F; I bought a thermometer.

think yes, hot or cold.
by (100 points)
Yes, for the brewing part, otherwise hot/cold, Okay.

I'm all about fruits and vegetables, and I grow at least 50 kinds of fruit alone on my one acre lot, but I think there are other things that are helpful.  Of late, I've been reading about gelatin and it has been remarkable.
I had ordered a four pound container of it about a year ago and then found that I really wasn't going to eat gelatin every day.  A few days ago, after reading about it again, I made capsules with some and  have been taking three a day for three days...preferably with fruit (vit. C)juice.
I canned some Concord grape juice last year that I've been drinking throughout the winter.  I'd had a cowlick that developed about five years ago out of the blue.  In three days, it's gone!  My skin feels so much less dry and my knees (arthritis) no longer hurt...Three days!!! I would highly recommend that people give it a shot.  Read about its benefits.  It's amazing stuff!

You sound like a great person to listen to, you are practicing so many good things.
Would like to try gelatin, think it's from animal source, don't know what kind to buy?
Just was diagnosed with arthritis.
Thank you for sharing!

I find Dr. Li's videos perfect in lenght and depth content. It gives you the scaffolding to understand the source of the matter. For people looking for a quick fix or a 5 min wrap up... and then go consume the next video... They are not interested in diving deep. well what can i say, IMHO that's the wrong approach. If i may give some advice, you may have to change the approach if you want to learn and understand the whole relation between food, health, biology and disease. Take notes on a dedicated notebook, rewind, relisten. Study! Be curious!
His books are excellent and well organized and very well written. A great support, but you have to make the effort to buy them, read them and apply the new knowledge in order to benefit from them.

But of course they are not for someone who doesn't understand the operating manual of a hairdryer and dreams of a quick fix. There is no such thing in the whole planet earth.

Healthy Knowledge is Power to Control your own sickness and then be able to bounce back
I love how he tells the whole story about foods and the plus and minus of fat. News Flash we have 2 kinds of fat. What to read more just bought both books.

Is there a tension then between needing to restrict angiogenesis to lower cancer risk (say you have basal cell issues) and promoting angiogenesis for example for hair growth? How does one thread that needle?

I am a viewer from Japan. I am studying by reading the Japanese version of the book. If possible, I would appreciate it if you could enable audio playback in Japanese in the audio track settings  Thank you☺
