Does anyone know how the early life experiences of Simone Biles shaped her career path in gymnastics?

As a mother of a child with a genetic syndrome (Williams, not Down) I am deeply thankful and feel so lucky that I came across this content. When she was born 4 years ago, I got brutally thrown into the (for me, then) unknown world of disabilities. Often I have wondered where could I find a historic impression of how people like my child were seen and treated in the old days, anecdotes about interactions. Thank you for diving into this subject and sharing it with us ❤

considering how horribly disabled people are still treated, i can only imagine how horrid it was back then. as an autistic person who grew up non speaking, my childhood was a terrible one. it has gotten better, but with the direction America is currently headed I fear it will only get bad again. Eugenics never left, it's been around since the dawn of time. it just gets better at being hidden. That is until people are allowed to be loud about it again. Reading from Dayton Ohio, and I have work soon.
