Could you elaborate on how fermented food and its consumption affect a person’s health positively?

This episode is a goldmine of practical, science-backed nutrition insights. I really appreciate how Dr. Gardner emphasizes that there’s no one-size-fits-all diet—and that reducing processed foods is a universal win. The deep dive into protein quality, fiber, gut health, and the role of the microbiome was incredibly helpful. Thank you both for making complex topics understandable and actionable. Looking forward to applying some of this to my own diet!

How high quality is a 1 week study on lactose intolerance? Diet studies usually have a 2 week washout period alone. I have no idea if raw milk can help lactose intolerance but that doesn’t seem like the best way to design a study.

If you're interested in regenerative farming and how that could work, check out Joel Salatin. He's been in the space for decades, has a working farm and is training farmers to do regenerative farming that actually pays. I'm sure he'd sit with you!

Dr Huberman you did a good job of trying to be neutral and not allow your bias to shine through. Dr Gardner good job being challenged and gently holding the line. This was interesting. Thank you.

But then you have someone like Andrew Huberman who sponsors AG1. You’d think with the amount of research that Huberman does, and I mean extensive research, he actually sponsors AG1, so people will buy it thinking it’s actually the most healthy drink for them.

If you agree so much, Andrew, that industrial farming is a horrific torturous way to do things. Why don’t you do more content about it so people actually know what’s going on in that industry and shine some light on it or do the beef and dairy people give you funding

What about what our wheat is sprayed with? That might have something to do with why some ppl get a reaction.

The issue of people going to Italy and being able to eat bread and pasta without gaining weight or feeling terrible is interesting considering the high amount of wheat Italy imports and makes into these products. I'd guess more has to do with mental state and the extra exercise from walking.

Asking Gardner about (animal) protein is like asking the Pope about birth control.

I listened with interest and hope. I ended with a strong conviction to distrust nutritional studies and nutritional science more than I had before. The best thing I heard in this whole discussion was don't eat processed foods and eat the way that makes you feel healthier. I don't think we need billions of dollars spent on paying for these biased professors to do experiments that say that over and over again processed food is bad but we need it to feed the masses, so lets just mark it not too serious. Government food guideline experts have done NOTHING to change guidelines because it benefits them personally to leave it the way it is and say "we need more evidence" because they get paid to create more biased evidence paid for by processed food companies. Round and round the BS goes and sicker and sicker people have gotten. That is what the experts like Dr. Gardner and all his associates "who agree most of the time" have been doing for decades. It so hypocritical when he suggests the system is wrong yet he is one of the major benefactors of perpetuating the system. BTW if I ate the way Dr. Gardner eats I would be in constant digestive distress...so to each their own needs for sure.

Hello. I enjoy listening to your podcast and I am thankful for the service you provide. I listen to several other science/health/fitness related podcasts and am so grateful that you had a veg friendly nutritionist on your show. I am not able to unlearn what I know about CAFOs/agriculture/aquaculture/fisheries and therefore struggle with ingesting animal products. It was particularly refreshing that ethics was brought into the discussion. THANK YOU.

Food is on of the things that makes me consider moving back to Europe. Unbeatable quality!
Regarding schools, kids in Switzerland go back home for lunch. This is how serious they take healthy food intake from early age.

Adherence can be easy if you have a few quick and easy go to recipes. Here's one for those transitioning their diets. Microwave brown rice, moroccan spice mix, canned garbanzo beans, hummus, cranberry sauce, berry tomatoes. Heat and eat!

Dr Gardner needs such wider play to dispel myths about plant-based diets and the shaming associated with diets that include meat and those that reduce or omit it - so tired of the extremes and the shaming. It will get us nowhere.

I am a biodiverse farmer. It is possible to change but not without animals and diversity of plant crops. One thing it hard to make is monoculture grain. That needs the large equipment and dedicated land due to the way you need to harvest then process. So I agree here that a meat and vegetable diet is the most sustainable. But does he put also all the stuff that comes into your beans while they are produced? This guy is a marketing expert talking about chefs.
