Hi Andrew,
Please do an episode on Anorexia Nervosa (not eating disorders).
I know you have an interest in it. I certainly do after supporting and advocating for our 30 yr old daughter with severe and enduring AN. I’m sure there are many parents suffering in silence who would love to hear a balanced discussion on this terrible illness.
Ps …your voice and your ability to use it well really sets you apart from so many.

Excellent podcast that really hones in the point that the solution isn't to deactivate the sympathetic; it's to activate the parasympathetic

I quit drinking for my wife on Mother’s Day 2000. It was my gift to her and turns out to me also. Have had zero alcohol since that day. That’s 25 years ago. We are in our late 70’s now and in excellent health. I take care of me for her and she takes care of her for me. Neat policy huh?

Absolutely insightful conversation.
I can't wait to see Dr. Alok Kanojia being invited to have a conversation with you on addiction, gaming, and practical ways of finding more agency in life.
You two together have been my biggest source of knowledge towards becoming a more balanced and healthier version of myself.
Thank you for all the work!

Thanks Dr Huberman. This is the content I've been looking for since first trying to find tools to overcome alcohol misuse and finding your effects of alcohol podcast. In the meantime, learning from all of your guests over the past months has illuminated so many corners of my life, I will be eternally grateful for your contribution to the betterment of humanity. Again, truly, thank-you.

please look into The Sinclair Method if you haven’t yet. It’s literally changed my life. The abstinence model wasn’t working for me, my neuropathways were way too strongly conditioned to use alcohol as a chemical reward. The Sinclair Method has literally rewired my brain to no longer want to drink much anymore. I really hope Huberman does a podcast on this soon.

Andrew, brother I have started the gratitude practice and I was looking for a compelling story of people receiving gratitude from others for my practice.. guess what struck me?? I just copied some gratitude filled comments from your podcasts and starting to practice using them.. people are genuinely being helped by you brother. I feel fortunate to have born in your times. All the love and gratitude for you Sir. For many people like myself..you have become a big brother.. a guiding force. May god bless you.

Absolutely amazing topic and hits so hard for me, stuck in the cycle and not giving myself any time to ease the stress response instead of going straight to my addiction of binging to numb the feelings, it seems to happen so quickly I don’t even know how to stop it. I’ll be a lot more aware of this now and try to use some tools to help, even in therapy I’ve never had it explained to me like this, like I can actually help myself rather than be a slave to it each time.

Thank you Dr Huberman and Dr Ryan Soave. Just like every other episode, this too had ton of useful information. Cannot thank you enough for providing such detailed education and applicable information. It is like how Dr Soave praised you at the end of the episode, I actually fall short of words/phrase to commend you on your work. Absolutely in awe, love and appreciation for you. Thank you!

Brilliant to break down addiction and broaden it out to all behaviours that reveal we are addicted and it’s for relief .. the problem is not the addicted substance. It is what we are seeking relief from.

The logical translation of someone saying 'they found themselves' when having a drink, is the loss of inhibition that drinking provides. If they were nervous or socially conscious before, and then started drinking and that went away with the drinking.

I have been 2 years sober from both Weed and Alcohol but I still have the porn problem but I am currently working on it. It's actually harder than drugs and alcohol. I always admired Andrew's advice so I am currently here to listen and maybe learn some things. Thanks for the post! Dr. Huberman

Sexual addiction is definitely different to other addictions. The few clients I’ve worked with benefited hugely from being under the care of a homeopath. It made such a valuable difference to being able to contain the urges.
